J.W.G. MacEwan graduated from OAC in 1926 and received his M.S. degree from Iowa State College in 1928. He then became a faculty member at the University of Saskatchewan and in 1946 was appointed Dean of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. He resigned in 1951 and was elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1955, becoming leader of the Opposition.
